Plymouth, Massachusetts Pilgrim Monument

On October 20, 2014 I was standing in the shadow of the Pilgrim Monument in Plymouth, Massachusetts in awe of God’s glorious answer to prayer for our nation. As an intercessor with a burden for the nations and the US as leader of the nations, I have had a heaviness each time I hear the news and enter into prayer for God’s mercy and restoration of our national destiny.

God answers prayer for our nation.

I squeezed a two day visit  into my busy schedule, drove 7 hours to Plymouth, MA where I   began prayer walking the ground that my own ancestors walked back in the 1600’s. I toured the Mayflower II, and the usual historic sites and spent time walking and praying. My heart gets very heavy as I repent for our nation straying so far from the dreams and vision of the Pilgrims who came to declare God’s purposes for this land. At the same time, I felt I was calling forth those prayers and the purpose that these brave and dedicated people sacrificed their lives for–for us, the future generations that would live in America. It was a powerful time of prayer as I felt my prayers were tapping into deep, deep wells of salvation for this nation and the people who inhabit it.

Near sunset I finally arrived at the small, out of the way location of the Pilgrim Monument. The driveway isn’t even paved and there were no people visiting on a late Monday, afternoon. Some neighbors came to briefly walk their dogs, but I enjoyed a time of solitude as I studied the monument itself and then stood in the shadow of this impressive granite monument and  prayed. A family came and had their picture taken at it’s base with their hands pointing to the sky like the figure of Faith at the top. They unknowingly mocked her purpose declaring, “The sky’s the limit!”  What a sad picture of America ignoring God’s messages to us. Tears welled up as I beheld this spectacle and prayed heavy prayers.

Then I noticed a rainbow appear to my left of the monument. I watched for 5 minutes as it pulsated larger and brighter. I was awed that God would send such a sign of hope and promise. As I stood praising Him, another rainbow appeared at the tip of Faith’s finger, just above the monument. It grew and became as the shape of a dove–something I would have thought impossible for a rainbow. I was overwhelmed even as I heard voices behind me. Another couple had come all the way from Oregon to see the monument after watching the documentary. They were amazed at seeing the rainbows as they approached directly behind me. These bows were not visible except from a small area where I happened to be standing in. My prayer continued in a renewed proclamation of hope in the God who has declared the destiny of this nation.

I was taking a video on my phone at this time to attempt to capture the pulsating brightness and colors of this amazing phenomena, as they approached I saw directly over my head the largest rainbow I have ever seen.  I looked down and saw a fourth rainbow appear to the right of the monument. I knew that rainbows in a circle above your head may be possible, but not in an arc, it is a physical impossibility if you understand how rainbows are usually formed . In these freezing, windy conditions they were likely “sun dogs“, a Parry arc and Circumzenithal arc (sometimes called a smile in the sky). These are extremely unusual and require exact weather conditions and precise positioning to observe. I had the privilege of seeing all 4 rainbows simultaneously in full color. This was God’s answer to me for my burden for the nation. His promises are True. He does answer the prayers of the saints–those today, and those of the past that have left a treasure of wells full of prayer and sacrifice.

The phenomenon lasted at least 20 minutes. During this time my phone had lost power but my heart was overwhelm with peace and God’s presence in the solitude of the shadow of the monument. The rainbows  disappeared only as the setting sun filled the sky with golden rays and darkness began creeping up from the east.

God is with us! He is in control and He has not forgotten one prayer from his people who continually lift up this nation to Him with cries for mercy and restoration of our destiny. Part of that destiny is our unwavering support for Israel. He gives us these signs as His signature on His covenant with us enacted by our spiritual Forefathers and He is waiting expectantly for us to walk therein.
